*Note on Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Decolonization, and Reconciliation

The KULA editorial team is currently working on revising our journal description and editorial policies to reflect our commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, decolonization, and reconciliation. We know that deep structural inequities exist in scholarly publishing and that journals have a responsibility to try to make these structures more equitable. As a publication dedicated to the study of knowledge creation, dissemination, and preservation, we respect different ways of knowing and are committed to working to make the journal more welcoming to knowledge makers and knowledge holders marginalized by the systems of knowledge production typically considered “legitimate” in scholarly communication. We recognize that this work will take time and will be imperfect, but we are committed to centering diversity, equity, inclusion, decolonization, and reconciliation in our mandate and editorial practices. In doing this, we hope that we are building a community that will hold us to account for this work. If you would like to offer any feedback to the editorial team as we undertake this process, please contact us at kulajournal@uvic.ca.
